Fossil Great White shark teeth are rare outside of South America (Chile and Peru).  The teeth that are linked to above are all from Chile (except where noted).

The Great White shark is indisputably the most infamous shark, thanks in large part to the "Jaws" movies.  Actually, several other species of shark are far more dangerous to man, including the Bull shark, a common inhabitant of Florida's coastlines.  The Great White gets all the press, perhaps because it is so large, fast and agile.

Great Whites are considered by many to be endangered.  Fresh (modern) Great White teeth are difficult to find and very expensive when you do.  You will find no modern Great White teeth at this web site.  Please consider purchasing a fossil tooth instead.  Help protect these amazing animals.

A "transitional" form exists in the fossil record, between Isurus hastalis (Big-Tooth Mako) and Carcharodon carcharias (Great White).  It currently has no name, other than "transitional" Great White.  The teeth have "developing" serrations.  Near the root, the serrations look much like the Great White.  As you proceed toward the tip though, the serrations become smaller, disappearing completely at the tip.  To see examples of this rare type of tooth, click "Transitionals" in the gray area above.
