Morocco is the source of marine fossils from the Eocene and Paleocene (40-60 million year old), perhaps even older.  They come from a large, high plateau near the Atlas Mountains.  There on the plateau are phosphate mines, which initially unearthed these treasured fossils.

From this location comes teeth from the oldest of the giant carnivorous sharks, Otodus obliquus.  Also among the fossils are teeth from aquatic carnivorous reptiles (dinosaurs).  Most dinosaurs though, lived prior to the age of these fossils.

The largest of the Otodus obliquus sharks were well over 30 feet, with teeth over 3 inches long.  Here is a link to some nice examples of those very large teeth.
