Morocco is the source of
marine fossils from the Eocene and Paleocene (40-60 million year old),
perhaps even older. They come from a large, high plateau near the
Atlas Mountains. There on the plateau are phosphate mines, which
initially unearthed these treasured fossils. The
largest of the Otodus obliquus sharks were well over 30 feet,
with teeth over 3 inches long. Here is a link
